Mukka Proteins Ltd., an India-based fishmeal and fish oil exporter, has acquired a majority stake in FABBCO Bio Cycle and Bio Protein Technology Pvt. Ltd. for approximately INR60 million (US$680,000).
The acquisition integrates FABBCO’s innovative waste-to-protein technology into Mukka Protein’s business. According to a report, FABBCO specializes in a process that utilizes black soldier fly (BSF) in a closed-loop biological system that addresses environmental challenges by diverting organic waste from landfills, and creates two high-value protein products: nutrient rich compost for agriculture and a sustainable, high-quality protein for animal feed.
“This acquisition is a pivotal step in our long-term strategy,” said Mukka Proteins CEO and Managing Director K Mohammed Haris. “By integrating FABBCO, we are not just expanding our capabilities, but immediately deploying them. The new 300-tons-per-day facility in Bengaluru, launched under a contract with Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), is a testament to our joint capacity to execute large-scale, impactful projects that directly address urban waste management. Together with our subsidiary Ento Proteins, this integration expands our capacity to deliver responsibly sourced, nutrient-dense and cost-effective feed solutions.”
Mukka Proteins now has waste management capacity of 500 tons per day using BSF across multiple locations, he added.
