The site is marking its 20th anniversary.

The plant has about 1,000 employees. It supplies around 30,000 equipment units a year to customers worldwide, including pellet mills, hammer mills, mixers, micro-dosing systems, vacuum coating equipment, extrusion systems, dryers and material handling equipment. It also supplies digital solutions.

The company says producers are still under pressure to improve efficiency, make better use of raw materials and energy, keep quality consistent and adopt digital tools.

Bühler founded the Changzhou operation in 2006. It has since become one of the company's three global manufacturing hubs and the global headquarters of its animal nutrition business. The site brings manufacturing, research and development, applications, training and customer service together in one place. Feed producers can test recipes and develop processes there with Bühler teams.

"Over the last 20 years, Changzhou has grown into a center of expertise for developing and manufacturing these technologies," said Philipp Hug, head of the animal nutrition business unit at Bühler.

More than 650 customers, partners, suppliers and industry experts attended the anniversary events, the company says. These included Bühler's Value Nutrition Innovation Forum. Sessions covered manufacturing efficiency, resource use, digital integration and changing nutritional needs across livestock and poultry feed, aquafeed, premix and pet food. Attendees also toured customer plants to see the equipment in commercial production.

Bühler showed several technologies at the event:

  • Z-Mission: a heat recovery system designed to improve energy efficiency.
  • Nutrex 7 Series: a new generation of extrusion system, available since May 2026.
  • Kubex 5 Series: the company's latest pellet mill for animal feed and food production.

The company also presented two digital systems, PelletingPro and ProteinPro. They provide real-time data and closed-loop control, meaning the process is adjusted automatically based on live measurements. Bühler describes these systems as the foundation for a "smart feed factory."

"Producers need practical ways to improve efficiency, use raw material more efficiently, strengthen process control and turn production data into better decisions," said Liping Shao, general manager of Bühler Changzhou.

With the order book full into next year, the plant expects to stay at full capacity through 2027.
