UK government invests in national biosecurity center

To protect the nation’s people and economy, the government of the United Kingdom has announced significant funding for the next phase of a new National Biosecurity Centre.

Investment of GBP1 billion (US$1.4 billion) has been pledged by the U.K. government to deliver the next phase of a National Biosecurity Centre (NBC).

Part of the country’s new National Security Strategy, the center will comprise a state-of-the-art science campus in Weybridge to the southwest of London. Set to be the leading facility for the nation’s animal biosecurity, it will also deliver new jobs and economic growth, and contribute to protecting the country’s citizens and economy from future pandemics.
