Wayne-Sanderson Farms has completed a $25 million renovation and upgrade of its Mocksville Feed Mill facility in North Carolina. The state-of-the-art facility, acquired in 2022 from J.P. Milling, now has the capacity to produce 4,500 tons of feed each week, serving more than 140 family farms in the area that supply the company's processing facility in Dobson, NC.
Matthew Wooten, Wayne-Sanderson Farms Dobson Complex Manager, emphasized the importance of the renovation: "Our farm partners depend on a steady supply of quality nutrition and the renovations were imperative to continue to support their needs and satisfy demand for our products."
Key features of the upgraded facility include:
- Increased on-site storage to reduce daily grain deliveries
- Paved entry and exit roads to minimize dust
- Improved property appearance with debris removal and plans for increased parking capacity
- Advanced technology for enhanced feed production quality
- Capability to mix various feed formulations for different poultry life stages
The renovated feed mill will employ 22 manufacturing and administrative staff members from the local area. Wooten encouraged Davie County and Mocksville residents to apply for the available positions.
The company worked closely with local officials during the renovation process, which included rezoning the facility to accommodate the improvements. This collaboration highlights Wayne-Sanderson Farms' commitment to community engagement and environmental responsibility.
The Mocksville Feed Mill's upgrade represents a significant investment in the local agricultural infrastructure, supporting the poultry industry in the region. By increasing production capacity and implementing modern technology, Wayne-Sanderson Farms is positioning itself to meet growing demand while maintaining high-quality standards in feed production.
This renovation project not only preserves the historical significance of the site but also demonstrates Wayne-Sanderson Farms' dedication to innovation in the feed industry. The upgraded facility is expected to play a crucial role in supporting local farmers and ensuring a stable supply chain for the company's poultry operations in North Carolina.
