Wayne-Sanderson Farms is the fourth largest animal feed producer in the U.S. and is ranked No. 19 worldwide in Feed Strategy’s Top Feed Companies ranking. In 2024, the company produced more than 7.5 million metric tons of poultry feed at its 16 feed mills. An integrator, Wayne-Sanderson Farms’ feed production supplies its contract farms.
Wayne-Sanderson Farms was formed in 2022 after Cargill and Continental Grain Co. reached an agreement to form a joint venture and acquire Sanderson Farms for US$4.53 billion or US$203 per share. Sanderson Farms, founded in 1947, was ranked as the third-largest chicken company in the U.S. by WATT Global Media at the time of its acquisition. Wayne Farms, founded in 1965 by Continental Grain Co., was the seventh-largest poultry company at the time of the acquisition.
