Project was approved by the local planning authority in January
U.K. animal feed manufacturer I’Anson Brothers Ltd. has purchased property on which it will build a new feed mill, according to a report.
The Darlington & Stockton Times reports that construction will begin soon at the 13-acre site at the Dalton New Bridge industrial estate near Thirsk in North Yorkshire, United Kingdom.
The company announced plans for the new production facility in May 2019, and approval was granted by the local planning authority in January.
I’Anson Brothers said the ultramodern, 23,000-square-foot facility will produce an initial 150,000 tons of animal feed per year on two production lines producing more than 30 tons per hour. Construction of the mill is expected to last for 18 months. Completion and commissioning are scheduled for 2022.
“This increased production will enable I’Anson to meet the growing demand of existing customers, expand its export operations and continue to be a major supporter of the North Yorkshire farming and wider economy,” the company said in a press release.
I’Anson Brothers’ headquarters will remain in Masham, England, where it will continue to manufacture an extensive range of micronized feeds, specialty rations and horse feeds. The new facility will focus on the production of bulk farm feeds, with the capacity created in Masham enabling the business to expand its U.K. and overseas sales of its British Horse Feeds and The Golden Paste supplement range, as well as continue to lead new product development.
Cost of the new facility is estimated at GBP12 million (US$15.1 million), and it will lead to the creation of about 10 new jobs. To ensure optimum operational and environmental efficiency, the new feed mill has been designed for energy efficiency. It incorporates the “best available techniques” (BAT). Computerized operation will precisely deliver ingredients, control the mixing process and optimize delivery routes. In addition, solar panels and heat pumps will make the best use of green energy sources.
