Egg producers told 'Green is not a passing fad'
Dr. Chris Brown, vice president and director of ethical and sustainable sourcing at Asda, Wal-Mart’s subsidiary in the United Kingdom, stated that customers expect products that are “green” and “sustainable,” and they don’t want to pay more for them. Brown spoke at the International Egg Commission’s conference in London and told the delegates that Asda believes in everyday low prices for sustainable products.

The 2013 International Production & Processing Expo has surpassed 1,100 exhibitors, covering more than 420,000 net square feet of exhibit space, according to show organizers. Comprised of the three integrated tradeshows—the International Poultry Expo, the International Feed Expo and the American Meat Institute's International Meat Expo—the International Production & Processing Expo is continuing to grow.

Annamaet Petfoods is inspired by the wild
Trained as an animal nutritionist and raised by a mother who loved animals, Downey built on his passion for sled dog racing by starting his own line of petfoods in 1986 with his wife, Mary Jo. Annamaet Petfoods, named after Downey’s mother, Anna Mae, are holistic and naturally preserved, the company says, and have cultivated a following among veterinarians and dog breeders.

Eggs the ‘gold standard’ for protein
There has been a change in the reason why eggs are included as an ingredient in food products, according to Peeyush Maheshwari, who has 17 years of experience working in research and development for General Mills. He told the audience at the International Egg Commission meeting in London that 10 years ago most companies put eggs in food products for a functional reason, but that today they are using eggs as an ingredient for nutritional reasons.
