USPOULTRY and the USPOULTRY Foundation are now accepting nominations for the Dr. Charles Beard Research Excellence Award, which recognizes outstanding research that has significantly impacted the poultry industry. Nominations are open until July 1, 2025, and are encouraged from universities, research institutions and individuals in the research community, including USPOULTRY members and staff.
The award honors research projects funded by USPOULTRY or its foundation that have been completed in the past five years, though older projects with recently recognized impact may also be considered. Nominations should include a description of the nominee’s research and its impact, and can be submitted via email to Dr. Denise Heard at [email protected].
The award includes a $1,500 cash prize, round-trip transportation and lodging for the 2026 International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) in Atlanta, GA. The award will be presented during the chair’s reception and the International Poultry Scientific Forum. Since its inception, USPOULTRY has invested over $37 million in research to improve the quality and safety of poultry products.
