Axitan Limited names new engineer

As the new senior bioprocessing engineer, Sam Romes will oversee fermentation processes and technology transfers.

Axitan Limited, a biotech company specializing in endolysin enzyme products to replace antibiotics in animal feed, has appointed Sam Romes as senior bioprocessing engineer. He will oversee fermentation processes and technology transfers to Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) as the company expands its global network.

CEO Al Zimmerman highlighted Romes' expertise in large-scale fermentation as crucial for supporting the commercial growth of Axitan’s first endolysin-based product, FORC3, which targets Clostridium perfringens in poultry. Romes, formerly with EVERY and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, brings extensive experience in fermentation and technology transfer.
