Eurofins Scientific, a leader in analytical support to the global food market, will open a microbiology laboratory in Louisville, Kentucky. This temporary site completed construction in mid-August and will open its doors to clients in October.
Eurofins Microbiology’s scientific staff is comprised of seasoned experts in laboratory methodology, stability and shelf-life study design, and developing programs for maintenance. In addition to offering a wide range of microbiology testing including pathogen testing, process control, quality and spoilage tests, strain identification, environmental monitoring and shelf-life studies; Eurofins has logistical expertise to allow maximum potential for rapid analysis.
The expansion to Louisville introduces a new service to Eurofins’ extensive portfolio, Eurofins Express Microbiology. With operations starting at 2 a.m. daily, the express service is a game-changer for the microbiology testing industry. Behind these expanded services will be a high level of quality, backed by Eurofins reputation for credible results. The laboratory plans to be accredited to ISO 17025 shortly after opening.
Marc Scantlin, president of Eurofins Microbiology Laboratories, says that this expansion into the Louisville market will provide clients with convenient and reliable options for microbiology testing. “With the addition of the Louisville laboratory, we are now able to receive overnight samples with arrival times between 2 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. This, combined with our capability to process these samples shortly thereafter, gives us the unique ability to provide much quicker turnaround times to our clients who are accustomed to shipping samples overnight with arrival times of 10:30 a.m. or later,” said Scantlin.
Eurofins is committed to providing the best laboratory services and client support to its customers and is dedicated to consistently providing the highest level of testing technology in the industry. With a bold growth strategy in place, the new Louisville laboratory is one among numerous acquisitions and developments for Eurofins Microbiology division; including the Mounds View, Minnesota, and Lancaster, Pennsylvania, locations which opened earlier this year.
“Louisville has a strong sense of community that blends well with Eurofins culture and commitment to our clients,” says Mehgan Styke, lab development manager for Eurofins. “It is exciting to open our laboratory doors to the local and surrounding industries. We look forward to supporting and developing programs needed to reach and maintain excellent food safety and quality expected both locally and worldwide.”
