Meanwhile, company gets approval for acquisition of Bowerings Animal Feeds assets
ForFarmers will transfer the production activities of Van Gorp Biologische Voeders B.V. (Van Gorp Bio), which currently take place in Schalkwijk, the Netherlands, to the production location of Reudink in Lochem, effective July 1. In addition, Van Gorp Bio will continue to work under the brand name Reudink, also, effective July 1.
Reudink, an entity within the ForFarmers group and active in organic feed, acquired Van Gorp Bio in October 2018. After the closing of that acquisition, the priority has been on integrating, among other things, the sales activities of Van Gorp Bio in the Reudink organization. Combining the forces of the sales teams of both organisations is done with a full focus on further enhancing the service levels to customers. In this context the decision has now also been taken to transfer the production of the Van Gorp Bio feeds to the Reudink mill in Lochem to organize the supply chain of organic feeds more efficiently.
This decision is also in line with the announced efficiency plans of ForFarmers, which include the objective to, wherever possible, combine production locations and enhance the supply chain in general. No decision has as yet been taken on a possible future use for the mill in Schalkwijk.
Ceasing the production in Schalkwijk entails that the production activities at this site, currently involving seven production employees of Van Gorp Bio, will discontinue. ForFarmers is investigating the possibilities to relocate these employees.
Approval of Bowerings Animal Feeds acquisition
ForFarmers UK’s proposed acquisition of Bowerings Animal Feeds moved forward, as the Competition and Markets Authority cleared the transaction.
ForFarmers announced its agreement to acquire Bowerings in December 2018.
According to an Insider Media Limited report, Bowerings, which is based in Bridgwater in Somerset, sells about 27,000 metric tons of feed to organic and conventional farmers in the poultry, pig, beef, dairy and sheep sectors.
Bowerings’ decommissioned mill site at Bridgwater is not part of the deal.
