Inghams: The company is not for sale

The poultry and feed producer denies rumors of an acquisition after media reports speculated about a possible deal.

Inghams Group, Australia's largest poultry producer, officially denied acquisition speculation in an ASX securities filing, confirming the company has not received any inbound offers or is engaged in any discussions about a possible sale.

Australia-based poultry and feed producer Inghams Group offered assurance that the company is not for sale, despite what several reports said.

In a securities filing, Inghams, which trades on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) under the ticker ING, said: "ING is aware of two separate media articles published yesterday, 13 August, speculating about a possible acquisition of ING. ING has not received any inbound offer or approach of the nature speculated in those articles and is not in discussions with any such party about a possible acquisition of the company."

The statement was signed by Inghams Company Secretary Marta Kielich.

Inghams, which has operations in Australia and New Zealand, recently invested in Just Meat Protein, an Australian food technology company commercializing Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO)-developed hydrolyzed poultry protein technology.

The company also recently partnered with ProTen to build two new, state-of-the-art poultry breeder production farms in Charlton, Victoria.

Inghams, according to information from the WATTPoultry.com Top Companies Database, is the largest poultry producer in the Oceania region and the 49th largest in the world, having produced 235.4 million broilers during the past year. As a feed producer, Inghams ranks 103rd globally with an annual output of 1.4 million metric tons.
