If the spread of H5N1 virus in U.S. dairy cattle is a model for how New World screwworm (NWS) might move through the country, then that’s enough worry to keep Dr. Kay Russo up at night.

Russo, a veterinarian with RSM Consulting who recently spoke at the American Feed Industry Association’s Liquid Feed Symposium (LFS) in Fort Worth, Texas, said, “if the H5 situation was a dress rehearsal, we absolutely failed.”
