Dust explosion at Tyson plant injures one

According to reporting by Danica Sauter from WSMVa dust explosion occurred at the Tyson Foods plant in Franklin County, Tennessee, on Saturday, August 31, injuring one person. According to the Estill Springs Police Department, the incident happened while a grain truck was unloading, triggering an explosion beneath the vehicle. The blast spread to the grain hopper, which led to the on-site grain silo, and ignited additional grain stored within the facility.

Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire before it could cause further damage. One person sustained burns during the incident and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The severity of the injuries remains undisclosed.

The Estill Springs Police Department praised the rapid and coordinated response of several fire departments, including Capitol Hill, Decherd, Winchester, and North Franklin County Fire Departments, for their role in managing the emergency.

Tyson Foods plant management has not yet provided further details regarding the incident or the specific damages to the facility.
