A roof fire occurred at the Tyson Foods-owned River Valley Ingredients rendering plant in Hanceville, Alabama.

According to a report from WBMA, the fire was reported around 4:55 a.m. on June 7. The Garden City Fire Department and other assisting fire departments responded after flames had been spotted on the roof. Apparently, one of the cookers caught fire, which sent flames through the venting system, which led to the roof.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

Cullman County Emergency Management Agency (EMA), in a Facebook post, praised the work of the firefighters in handling the situation.

“Incidents of this magnitude require a tremendous team effort, and we want to extend our sincere appreciation to all of the fire departments, law enforcement agencies, emergency responders, industry personnel, and volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout the event. Their professionalism, dedication, and coordination were instrumental in bringing the situation under control and protecting both lives and property,” the agency stated.

“We are grateful for the strong partnerships that exist throughout Cullman County and beyond with our neighboring counties. When emergencies happen, it is the collective effort of many organizations and individuals that makes a difference.”

Details of the extent of the damages caused by the fire were not available.

This is the second time in recent history River Valley Ingredients suffered a fire in Cullman County. In 2021, the company’s rendering facility in Hanceville – part of Tyson’s Hanceville complex – was lost to a fire, and Tyson announced less than a year later that it was building a $208 million, 121,000-square foot facility to replace it.
