A new feed mill in Mizil, Romania, has been completed and is fully operational, according to a report from Spain-based grain silo manufacturer Silos Cordoba, which supplied storage for the project.
The project was developed by MGN-Maquinaria Grupo Nueve for Dutch Trading. The new feed mill strengthens Dutch Trading’s production capacity while improving the efficiency of its feed manufacturing processes through advanced storage and raw material handling systems.
As part of this project, Silos Córdoba supplied 23 hopper silos, designed for the storage of wheat, raw materials and finished feed.
Wheat storage silos
The system includes nine hopper silos with a 45-degree cone, each with a capacity of 1,406 cubic meters, a diameter of 10 meters and 13 rings in height. These silos are designed for large-scale wheat storage, allowing efficient gravity discharge and ensuring a continuous supply of raw material for the feed production process.
Raw material silos
The project also includes 10 silos designed for raw material storage:
- Eight hopper silos with a 60-degree cone, each with a capacity of 104 cubic meters
- Two hopper silos with a 60-degree cone, each with a capacity of 70 cubic meters
All of them have a diameter of 3.64 meters, with heights of eight and five rings respectively, ensuring rapid and complete product discharge while maintaining a constant production flow.
Bulk feed silos
For the storage of finished product, the installation incorporates four hopper silos with offset hoppers, each with a capacity of 39 cubic meters, a diameter of 2.55 meters, and 6 rings in height. These silos are specifically designed to facilitate efficient bulk feed handling and dispatch.
Safety, accessibility and operational control
In addition to the steel silos, the project includes several key elements to ensure safe and efficient plant operation:
- Access ladders and catwalks for safe inspection and maintenance
- Structural supports engineered to withstand operational loads
- Upper and lower-level sensors for inventory monitoring, overfill prevention and continuous product control
