DSM-Firmenich opened a pet-only premix facility in Tonganoxie, Kansas, U.S. The NextGen Tonganoxie plant features 100% automated micro-ingredient additions and fully traceable batch assembly systems.
The company said its new facility uses an Amabox containerized transport system for automated micro-ingredient additions, designed to prevent human errors in premix assembly. The containerized design prevents cross-contamination between production lines.
NextGen Tonganoxie can blend dsm-firmenich specialty ingredients with third-party sourced materials. The facility's blending technology handles vitamins, carotenoids, omega-3s, trace minerals, vegetable powders, fruit powders and microbiome solutions. The plant produces premixes for therapeutic, premium, maintenance, growth and functional formulations.
The opening follows dsm-firmenich's launch of a pet-only facility in Haag, Austria, earlier in 2025. Both sites operate separately from animal feed production lines. The company serves customers in the U.S., Canada and Mexico from the Tonganoxie location.
The facility created 20 jobs to date, with approximately 30 positions expected at full production capacity.
