Deal pending approval from Poland’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection

De Heus Animal Nutrition has reached an agreement to acquire Polish compound feed company Golpasz, pending approval from the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK).

Based in Province Kuyavian-Pomeranian, Poland, Golpasz has an annual production capacity of 500,000 tons of compound feed for turkeys, broilers, pigs and cattle. It has four production sites. Netherlands-based De Heus produces compound feed, premixes and concentrates for livestock and fish. Through its own operations as well as joint ventures and partnerships, it is active in 75 countries, with sales and production sites in Europe, South America, Asia and Africa.

“Both companies perceive many mutual benefits in the new partnership,” said Adam Zaleski, general manager of De Heus Poland, in a press release. “De Heus and Golpasz have high-quality specialized knowledge in animal nutrition, animal husbandry and livestock farming. These competences enable both companies to develop and supply tailor-made (nutritional and business) solutions in line with requirements and demands of their farming customers. Combining strengths will accelerate further improvement in this area. In addition, Golpasz has gained highly specialized knowledge in the area of turkey nutrition, which is of added value to De Heus. Furthermore, Golpasz will also obtain access to De Heus’ international network and expertise center, providing Golpasz the opportunity to enrich its knowledge and use it to accelerate product innovation initiatives, among other things.”

De Heus has made several acquisitions this year. It finalized a deal to acquire Piensos Muga in Spain, effective June 29. The acquisition of Piensos Muga is an important step for De Heus to strengthen its leading position as supplier of animal nutrition products in Northern Spain, a key region to the Spanish livestock sector.

Also in June, De Heus Animal Nutrition acquired the compound feed operations of Neovia Indonesia from ADM. The deal includes two feed mills located in West Java and East Java, PT Welgro Feedmill and PT Wirifa Sakti, which had total sales volume of 125,000 metric tons in 2019. The mills produce feed for poultry, aqua and swine.
