The American Feed Industry Association, along with the International Grains Program of the Department of Grain Science and Industry at Kansas State University, have partnered to offer two short courses on HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) and feed manufacturing. The interactive courses, both held in Manhattan, Kan., are taught by instructors who provide in-depth training on all aspects of the industry associated with feed manufacturing and feed safety.

The guidance provides a new methodology for distinguishing between safe and potentially harmful strains of E. faecium in animal nutrition.

Participants from four countries came together to discuss growth opportunities for Southern Africa and improve their knowledge of feed manufacturing, sharing knowledge and comparing operations at the first-ever Southern Africa Feed Manufacturing Training Activity held March 5–9 at the Kansas State University International Grains Program Conference Center. Extrusion basics, record keeping and batching and mixing were among the topics discussed during the course.

New China regulations provide opportunities for yeast bio-feed products

China's management regulations for feed and feed additives, which aim to strengthen the management for the quality and safety of feed and feed additives in the country, are scheduled to be implemented on May 1, according to reports. The implementation of the new regulations will bring greater market development opportunities to safe, nutritional and healthy feed products, such as yeast source bio-feeds, said Yu Xuefeng, executive director of the China Feed Industry Association and president of Angel Yeast Co.

China releases amended animal feed, feed additive regulations

China's amended Management Regulations on Feed and Feed Additives were released November 15 and will be implemented beginning May 1, 2012. The amendments include a series of bans against behaviors with the potential to cause human harm, such as raising animals with the use of Ministry of Agriculture-banned and other materials.
