Rendering’s role in poultry industry sustainability

Converting processing byproducts into animal feed, fertilizer and other goods contributes to the circular economy of poultry production.

While most of the products harvested from chickens and turkeys are consumed by humans, a substantial volume of each bird harvested is classified as byproducts. Although these byproducts are not used in the human food supply chain, they are not wasted. Instead, they undergo a process called rendering to upcycle them into other valuable products.
