Pork processor Triumph Foods joins DOJ lawsuit against Proposition 12

Pork processor Triumph Foods has expanded the U.S. Department of Justice’s legal challenge against Proposition 12 by filing a lawsuit against the California animal welfare law. The lawsuit includes claims never pursued by any plaintiff, the company said in a press release.

“Congress has already acted and regulates pork production in our country,” said Matt England, president and CEO of Triumph Foods. “A national food supply chain depends on consistent regulation from the federal government, free from a patchwork of interfering state requirements.”
