The province of Manitoba, Canada, has confirmed its first case of porcine epidemic diarrhea (PED) virus this year.

The case was identified in a finisher barn in southeastern Manitoba, according to reports, and has triggered full biocontainment as outlined in the Manitoba PED Elimination Plan. All producers within 5 kilometers of the infection have been advised to reach out to their herd veterinarians to discuss and implement enhanced biosecurity protocols.
