Feed Strategy Conference: Feeding poultry to meet evolving consumer demands

Wednesday, January 29, 8 a.m.-12 p.m.

Evolving consumer preferences have trickled down to influence how animal feed is formulated and produced. The Feed Strategy Conference, co-located with IPPE, aims to assist in providing animal feed stakeholders the tools they need to maintain productivity and profitability in a changing production landscape. Foreign animal disease

The American Feed Industry Association’s (AFIA) nutrition committee is hosting a program in 2020 focused on biosecurity as it pertains to foreign animal diseases such as foot and mouth disease, African swine fever and avian influenza. Experts will discuss how to prevent the introduction into your facility, what to do if a disease outbreak comes to the U.S. and much more.

As regulatory requirements for the feed industry continue to evolve, this training session hosted by AFIA’s production compliance committee will update participants on recent changes from several federal agencies including DOL, DOT, EPA, FDA and OSHA. There will be a keynote speaker on navigating FSMA inspections at your facility from a legal perspective followed by a panel discussion with industry representatives on the subject.


Research methods workshop: Feed formulation tools and techniques

Thursday, January 30, 8-10 a.m.

Registration fee: $75

Based on the book, “Nutrition Experiments in Pigs and Poultry,” this workshop will provide students and researchers with hands-on experience using basic tools and techniques needed to properly balance diets. Come with your laptop with Microsoft Excel and leave with the workbooks to perform least-cost feed formulations, and an understanding of how to use them. The tools provided will equip you to model linear and stochastic (considering ingredient variation) models. Participants should come with a basic understanding ingredient composition and nutritional requirements.


Exporting 101: Global sales for enhancing competitiveness and innovation (for exhibitors only)

Tuesday, January 28, 7:30-9:30 a.m.

Learn how the U.S. government can assist U.S. companies expand sales into overseas markets, including emerging trends in the international markets that U.S. companies must not miss. Presented by the U.S. Department of Commerce/U.S. Commercial Service, the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Export Import Bank of the United States and private industry, the seminar will highlight resources available for exporters to position manufactured products and value propositions in compelling international markets.
