The Northern Crops Institute (NCI) is a collaborative effort among Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota to promote and develop markets for crops grown in this four-state region. Located on the campus of North Dakota State University, in Fargo, North Dakota, NCI is an international meeting and learning center that brings together customers, commodity traders, technical experts, and processors for discussion, education and technical services.
NCI’s Feed Production Center, established in 1990, is a facility designed to support education and technical assistance in feed mill management and manufacturing technologies. The Feed Production Center serves both domestic and international clients by providing hands-on training, producing feed for North Dakota State University’s animal research units, and supporting research projects across the four-state region. The facility is equipped with an I-Controls automation system, Bliss hammermill, RMS two-pair roller mill, Scott Equipment Company twin shaft mixer, and a California Pellet Mill backed up by a Colorado Mill Equipment counterflow cooler and crumbler. With a daily production capacity of 60 tons of meal feed or 24 tons of pelleted feed, the Feed Production Center serves as a key resource for the feed industry.
