Kansas State feed short courses focus on HACCP, manufacturing
The American Feed Industry Association, along with the International Grains Program of the Department of Grain Science and Industry at Kansas State University, have partnered to offer two short courses on HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) and feed manufacturing. The interactive courses, both held in Manhattan, Kan., are taught by instructors who provide in-depth training on all aspects of the industry associated with feed manufacturing and feed safety.

Southern Africa sees opportunities for feed manufacturing growth
Participants from four countries came together to discuss growth opportunities for Southern Africa and improve their knowledge of feed manufacturing, sharing knowledge and comparing operations at the first-ever Southern Africa Feed Manufacturing Training Activity held March 5–9 at the Kansas State University International Grains Program Conference Center. Extrusion basics, record keeping and batching and mixing were among the topics discussed during the course.

Kansas State University’s International Grains Program will be hosting Basic and Advanced Feed Manufacturing courses Sept. 26 through Oct. 7, 2011. The courses are geared toward feed mill owners, managers, supervisors, merchandisers and maintenance personnel as well as managers of livestock, poultry and agriculture facilities.

JBS United, DeKalb Feeds partner on feed manufacturing
JBS United and DeKalb Feeds have entered into a joint venture, Central Nutrition Services LLC, focusing on manufacturing livestock feeds and nutritional supplements for both JBS and DeKalb and their customers throughout the Midwest. The venture takes advantage of an existing Frytown, Iowa, mill facility which DeKalb acquired in September 1996, and which has never been fully utilized.

Kansas State University's Department of Grain Science and Industry held an advanced feed manufacturing short course for 27 feed industry professionals in June. The course was offered in partnership with the American Feed Industry Association and the National Grain and Feed Association.

Victam International highlights innovation in animal feed manufacturing
Representatives of the feed and grain sectors from more than 100 companies were in Germany in early May to take part in the 2011 edition of the specialist trade show Victam International, that deals exclusively with grain processing and the manufacture of animal feeds. With European-style mega-booths for the big feed equipment players, the show also included demonstrations of some major machinery.

BioResource International to build feed manufacturing facility in China
BioResource International
North Carolina-based BioResource International Inc. has announced that it signed a formal agreement to construct a feed manufacturing facility in China. BRI partnered with Taiwan-based Yung Zip Chemical Industrial Co. Ltd. and Yung Shin Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. to purchase land and begin construction on the plant, which will be used to produce BRI’s natural feed additives for chicken and pig nutrition.
