Outlook for 2014-15 grain production up sharply

The June Grain Market Report from the International Grains Council says the outlook for grain production in 2014-15 has increased sharply, by 12 million tons. This is due to favorable weather, which led to better prospects for wheat and corn.

AFIA director named to Agricultural Technical Advisory Committee

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman on June 26 appointed Gina Tumbarello, American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) director of international policy and trade, to the Agricultural Technical Advisory Committee for Trade in Grains, Feed, Oilseed and Planting. Tumbarello was one of 19 new appointees to six agricultural trade advisory committees.

Fire damages machinery at Land O’Lakes Purina feed mill

Malfunctioning machinery sparked a fire at the Land O’Lakes Purina feed mill in McMinnville, Oregon. Firefighters report they have put out the fire and no injuries were reported.

AFIA sees record attendance at Feed Industry Institute

NGFA urges House to vote yes on customer protection bill

The National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) and more than 30 other organizations urged members of the House of Representatives to vote yes on the Customer Protection and End-User Relief Act, (HR 4413) when it moves to the floor for consideration.In a letter, the organizations write that the legislation, which was unanimously approved by the Committee on Agriculture, provides important protections for futures customers.
