Zimbabwe begins emergency feeding of cattle

In the Republic of Zimbabwe, an ongoing drought induced by an El Niño climate pattern in the Pacific Ocean is threatening the survival of the nation’s cattle. Livestock are vital to rural communities in the country — as a source of food and income, and for national food security.

As part of a coordinated effort to prevent mortalities and reduced productivity, the national government is speeding up deliveries of emergency livestock feeds to many at-risk areas, reported Herald this week.
