Concerns raised in Europe over spread of sheep and goat plague

Since peste des petits ruminants (PPR) returned to Europe in July, authorities are raising awareness of the potential threat of this notifiable disease, which can devastate flocks of sheep and goats.

Over the past few weeks, peste des petits ruminants (PPR) outbreaks have been reported for the first time in Romania and Greece — both European Union (EU) member states. The disease was lasted recorded in the region six years ago in Bulgaria.
