After the most recent round of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) vaccination in 12 regions of Brazil, agriculture minister Carlos Fávaro announced that Brazil has become free of the disease — without reliance on vaccination.
This represents a first step in opening up the whole country for exports of animal products to more potentially valuable markets.
