Nutreco has acquired Brazil’s Fatec Indústria de Nutrição e Saúde Animal Ltd, a supplier and producer of premixes and animal health products, and premix and feed specialty supplier BRNova Sistemas Nutriconais S.A.
The purchases broaden the Dutch animal nutrition and fish feed company’s species’ portfolio to include layers, broilers and swine.
According to the company, the two acquisitions will allow Nutreco to grow its annualized revenues from around €110 million to approximately €185 million; they also allow greater access to Brazil’s southern, central and midwestern states.
“Fatec and BRNova are good strategic fits complimentary to our existing Brazilian business,” says Knut Nesse, CEO, Nutreco. “These companies bring with them strong premix know-how, strong market positions, expand our product and species portfolio in Brazil and have track records of selling innovative products to their customers. They also perfectly fit in our geographical expansion strategy and our ‘Feeding the future’ mission.”
In addition to aligning with the company’s strategy to expand into growth markets, the acquisitions also accelerate its strategy to expand sales of its globally branded nutritional solutions and to strengthen Nutreco Brazil’s product portfolio with the addition of premixes, animal health products and feed specialties.
The details of the transaction have not been disclosed.
Meanwhile, Nutreco’s future ownership remains up in the air as industry analysts suggest Cargill will counter SHV Holdings’ $3 billion takeover bid.
