Annual Canadian animal feed production hovers around 30 million metric tons — largely comprised of swine (34%) and cattle feed production (29% beef and 19% dairy). While poultry only accounts for 18% of the country’s feed volume, this sector has made significant strides in adapting to and evolving with antibiotic-free poultry production.

“We're looking at what the Americans are doing, we're looking at what the Europeans are doing, and we're trying to come up with a uniquely Canadian hybrid model,” said Rob Patterson, vice president, innovation and commercialization at CBS Bio Platforms, who provided a look at Canada’s antibiotic-free poultry production at the Feed Strategy Seminar, held at Health & Nutrition Asia (HNA) in Bangkok.
