Additive decreases the energy costs of feed production
As energy costs continue to rise, researchers at Tecaliman, the Nantes, France-based feed technical center, have been experimenting with an acidifying additive that has potential to decrease feed mill energy bills. This method allows feed plants to lower its heat treatment temperature while improving its enterobacteria-fighting efficiency.

Improved animal performance starts with proper preservation of feed byproducts
Historically, the use of chemicals (acids and their salts) in feed conservation is a tried-and-true method used to protect stored feed and byproducts from bacterial, mold and yeast contamination. This article provides research to support how the use of propionic acid and sodium benzoate preservative products can reduce the risk of feed contamination and improve profits.

How to manage feed mill safety when mixing nano-sized powders
Much of the work in the feed industry focuses around the mixture of ingredients - many of which are powders. Each powder has different physical properties, such as particle size, that pose unique challenges. A compromise needs to be found between plant productivity, cost, the homogeneity of the mix with feed, environmental and worker safety.
