Gavin O’Reilly, president of Perten Instruments, dies

The president of Perten Instruments, Gavin O'Reilly, has died at age 58.

Gavin L. O’Reilly, 58, of Springfield, Illinois, died on Sunday, September 22, 2019, at his residence.

He was the president of Perten Instruments, a supplier of advanced analytical instruments to the food and agricultural industries.

O’Reilly was born on December 19, 1960, in Cape Town, South Africa, the son of Gerald and Patricia MacNally O’Reilly. He married Deborah Jane Fox on December 5, 1987, in Johannesburg, South Africa.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA. Before becoming president at Perten Instruments, he co-owned Lab World in South Africa.

O’Reilly was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Bridget Penkler.

He is survived by his wife; four children, Ashleigh (Claude Jacobs) O’Reilly, Matthew O’Reilly, Kerryn O’Reilly, and James O’Reilly; three siblings, Noreen (Paul) Beets and Sean O’Reilly, and Brendan (Lauren) O’Reilly; two aunts; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
