Wp Fs Webinar 400x200Watch on-demand now to learn how optimization of micronutrient nutrition, in particular, vitamins can help to create a more robust immune system and support animals in the fight against disease.

Emerging research in the fight against COVID-19 and other infections highlights the potential of vitamins and some other nutrients to counteract the effect of disease in today’s hectic world. Similar to humans, animals are also highly responsive to those micronutrients that support and optimize immune function, creating more resilience to production challenges and as a consequence, Dsm Sponsored By 200pximprovements in overall performance, health, and sustainability. With diseases, so front of mind today, global experts Dr. Jim Richards, VP Nutrition Science and Advocacy in DSM Human Nutrition & Health, USA, and Dr. Maria Walsh, Global Innovation Lead in DSM Animal Nutrition & Health, Switzerland, will share new insights into the role of vitamins on immunity, in humans and animals, with a specific focus on DSM’s multi-component feed solution for implemented in the animal production industry.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN:
1. How the nutritional support of the immune system is a safe & reliable strategy to limit the impact of infections in humans, with some examples of consumer immune product launches in the world.
2. Opportunities to fine-tune animal immunity with vitamins and other micronutrients: the DSM approach to animal health and immune optimization.
3. Examples of feed solutions developed to improve immune function, animal health, performance, and sustainability.

This webinar is sponsored by DSM and presented by WATTPoultry, Feed Strategy, and WATT Global Media.

SPEAKER INFO:

Dr. James D. Richards, VP Nutrition Science and Advocacy, DSM Human Nutrition & Health, USA

Richards Jim 90pxDr. Jim Richards holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Grinnell College and earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in Microbiology (Program in Immunology) from the University of California, San Francisco. His thesis research focused on antigen-induced activation of B lymphocytes, the antibody-secreting cells of the immune system. Dr. Richards has held positions of increasing responsibility in both animal nutrition and human nutrition companies for the past 18 years and joined DSM Human Nutrition and Health as VP, Nutrition Science, and Advocacy in March 2019. He and his team are focused on developing scientifically substantiated nutritional solutions for a broad range of consumer needs, including immunity.

Dr. Maria C. Walsh, Global Innovation Lead, DSM Animal Nutrition & Health, Switzerland

Maria Walsh 90pxDr. Maria Walsh holds degrees in Agricultural Science (BAgriSc) from the National University of Ireland (Dublin) and Purdue University, US (MSc and Ph.D.). During her time at Purdue her research focused on understanding the interplay between the gut microbiome, host physiology, and feed during the post-weaning period in swine production and to identify strategies to overcome these challenges. Dr. Walsh has held Innovation scientist positions developing feed additive solutions in leading feed additive companies for the past 8 years. Having joined DSM in May 2018, Maria is now Global Innovation Lead for swine for DSM Animal Nutrition & Health and is focused on improving the efficiency and sustainability of swine production through improvements in nutrition and health.
